THE Morobe government has given K70,000 to the National Broadcasting Corporation in Morobe to improve its news coverage in the province.
Morobe Governor Kelly Naru handed over the cheque to Carol Umbo, NBC Morobe’s executive producer.
Naru said the radio station reached many people in the rural areas.
“We will continue to assist NBC to ensure it brings maximum coverage to our people in far-flung areas like Siassi and Kabwum,” Naru said.
Project officer Ting Esonu said the government decided to support NBC because it played a vital role in disseminating information to the people.
Esonu agreed with the NBC’s proposal on the Wokabaut Insait lo Morobe programme highlighting important issues the locals faced every day.
“The funding will help you travel around the province and see and report on how the government is spending the PSIP funds to deliver services to the people,” Esonu said.
Umbo said they were ready to roll out their programmes.
