Morobe Governor and philanthropist lawyer Kelly Naru is continuing his mission work, supporting church groups over the long weekend. Naru gave out K81,000 of his personal money to church groups in the Markham, Bulolo and Nawaeb districts respectively. Naru gave K10,000 to the Cancer Relief Society under the Daffodil Cup event that was held at the Lae Golf Club last Friday. That was his second donation of K10,000 to the society.
The first donation was in 2010.
In Markham, Naru presented K20,000 to the Sangang Evangelical Lutheran Church Circuit for its centenary celebrations and in Bulolo; he gave K20,000 to the ELC-PNG Women’s Conference.
On Saturday, Naru travelled the rugged Boana Road, in Nawaeb district, to attend the closing ceremony of the ELC-PNG Lae Circuit Conference at St Hiob parish, in Gumbumg village.
He presented K10,000 to the ELC-PNG Jabem Circuit Youth conference in Finschhafen and K21,000 to church groups that attended the conference for their transport costs back to their villages.
He gave K10,000 to St Andrew parish of Lae, which will host next year’s conference at Yanga village and K1,000 each to the 10 parishes that attended the conference.
“Firstly, I want urge each and every one of you to thank yourself for electing me as your ‘number one servant.’ You have elected me to serve and not to be served,” Naru told the gathering.
He assured the gathering of more than 5,000 people he would try his best to fulfil the servant responsibility and ensure that services were delivered.
Those who received the donations from Naru praised him for his continued generosity.
