THE Christian Democratic Party will strongly foster the relationship between the State and church if given the chance to form the government next year, says party leader Kelly Naru.
Morobe Governor Naru said this last Friday during the opening of an infrastructure at the St Joseph Catholic Technical School in Lae.
Naru said the party viewed the State-church partnership as important in the delivery of services to the people.
“As our awareness leading into next year, we are advocating the Government-church partnership,” he said.
“The partnership between the church and the State is very important because the Government does not have hands and legs in the rural areas of the country.
“Where the Government is absent, the missions are already there.
“Therefore, this partnership becomes very important because for the government to drive services in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and law and order, we need that partnership,” Naru said.
He said was happy with the government’s free education policy and especially funding made to church-run schools.
Naru said Morobe was the first province to create a government-church partnership programme
“I see that for this country to move forward, the church and State partnership is the way to go.”
