NASFUND has cancelled all regional conferences and gatherings to protect the health and safety of its staff and the people against the coronavirus pandemic.
Chief executive officer Ian Tarutia said the fund noted that it was a global concern which required precautionary measures.
“The global outbreak of coronavirus is a priority issue for nations, individuals and organisations around the world,” Tarutia said.
“Here at Nasfund, we have taken steps to protect the health, safety and well-being of our staff and the community.
“Following guidance from local health officials and the World Health Organisation (WHO), we have stepped up our coronavirus prevention protocols. We have cancelled all regional conferences, shop floor presentations and activities requiring large gatherings. We have also cancelled all nonessential business travel outside of PNG.”
Tarutia said Nasfund would maintain normal services but staff would be required to wear protective masks when dealing with clients.
“If we are required to make changes to our business operations and or public engagements that will disrupt our provisions of services, we will let you (members) know,” he said.
