Nasfund focuses on talent management

TALENT management is a fundamental element for the National Superannuation Fund Ltd, says head of Human Capital Vincent Lialu.
“We have actually got good talent coming into the business,” he said.
“The talent pool we have comprises young graduates who have been brought into the organisation to be part of the journey.”
Lialu said one of the pathways that the fund had created was through its graduate development programme.
“The graduate development programme will take two years which our graduates will go through to understand the whole business,” he said.
“That is not to cut off those people who have been in the business for a long time.
“They bring experience and also provide coaching and guidance to our young graduates.
“It’s a combination of those who have been running the business for a long period of time as well as our young graduates who are the future pipeline for the business.
“Our aspiration has been to ensure that we have the right people, the right process, working in the right environment to provide quality services to our members.”
Lialu said innovation and technology had made the fund “what it is today” but also requires talent to use the technologies and innovations.
“We can have innovation technology but if we don’t have the right people with the right set of skills and underpinned by a culture, things will not work out in the way we want.”
