NASFUND has re-opened its service centre in Kavieng, New Ireland.

The centre was opened last week and witnessed by officials from the provincial government, business houses, representatives of contributing employers and the public.

Chief operating officer Warwick Vele said Nasfund was happy to bring back its services to the town.

He encouraged contributing employers and members to work together so that they can fully access the services from the fund.

Vele said Nasfund’s objective was to change the mindset of people to save.

He said the fund support the objective of the Bank of PNG.

He said this was to ensure many Papua New Guineans were financially empowered and included in services that were provided by financial institutions.

New Ireland province official Demas Kavavu challenged the fund to provide efficient services.

A Bank South Pacific representative said they had been seeing a lot of their customers depositing money into their EDA Supa Accounts at the branch.

The service centre was closed in 2011 and moved to Lihir.
