High Performance Sport (HPS) Papua New Guinea has announced the signing of new memorandums of understanding with 23 national federations in the country, with an additional five still under review.
The MOUs outline a significant range of services to each federation, covering key areas of performance support services, performance planning and business support.
Under performance support services, HPS PNG runs its talent identification pathways, coaching and athlete development and welfare, nutrition programmes, and sports medication and science.
Having just celebrated its fourth anniversary, HPS PNG will soon be expanding to the four regions of the country. With programmes such as the coach study tour, athlete leadership summit and the coach scholarship programme all open for nominations, it is an exciting time for the continued support and growth of elite sport opportunities for PNG.
Strategies to continue the “Kamapim Kanaka” talent pathway, tertiary sports, emerging talent scholarships and para-sports programmes will also be implemented, HPS PNG said in a statement.
With funding expected to be secured for the next four years, HPS PNG said it was looking forward to continuing its support of national federations.
