THE Port Moresby Nature Park has opened a “Fairies in the Park” programme to add to its attraction.
The two-month long programme would be featured every day to include fairies craft and face paintings, a fairy shop and private fairy parties, said park general manager Michelle McGeorge.
McGeorge said fairies in the park was not really a PNG thing but was common in Europe where children could participate and be educated.
“What we really wanted to do is recognise that it is very important to use children’s imagination, it is an actual tool in development and at the moment there is just a lot of heavy things going on in Papua New Guinea,” she said.
“What we really wanted to do is to just take the pressure off the kids.
“Let them be kids for a day, let them go in and hang out with the fairies, get their faces painted and just have a lot of fun.”
