Nature Park thanked firm for fixing school bus

THE education department at the Port Moresby Nature Park has thanked Ela Motors for repairing its “Come Explore With Us” school bus after it experienced engine problems.
Ela Motors has been supporting Nature Park’s school excursion programme since 2013.
The programme has benefitted more than 20,000 school children annually.
The bus is used by schools who cannot provide their transport to the park.
Nature Park’s education officer Shirley Mogi said children loved to get on the bus.
“Their day of adventure and learning starts when they get on the bus covered with PNG animal cartoons.”
The Nature Park runs the only structured schools excursion programme which supports the national education curriculum learning outcomes.
It also runs a number of themed programmes throughout the year.
“The reality is that without the generosity and support of organisations such as Ela Motors, many school children would miss out on the opportunity to come to the park and connect with nature,” Mogi said.
The park recently celebrated the 100,000th school student to attend its education programme.
The programme is supported by ExxonMobil, National Capital District Commission, Zoos Victoria, The National, Digicel and the United Nations Development Programme.
In May last year, the park was awarded the Zoo Educators Award by the Zoo and Aquarium Association of Australasia for its conservation programmes.
