THE vacancy for a district education coordinator in Nawaeb district of Morobe is making the management of Nawaeb Lutheran High School difficult, an official reveals.
The high school, located in ward 13, serves students from the three Nawaeb local level governments of Labuta, Erap-Wain and Nabak.
Councilor of ward 13 in Hobuc, McClay Esoke said the position had been vacant since last year.
“We need technical officers on the ground to help us with the progress of the school,” he said.
“We also need school inspectors to inspect the school, inspect the teachers, and help us with issues the school is facing.
“We are not able to make some decisions for the school because the education manager or coordinator will have to have a say in those decisions.”
Nawaeb Lutheran High School was established in 2005 and currently has 16 teachers.
It is the only high school in operation in Nawaeb.
The second high school, Boana Lutheran High School, opened last month.
“The school (Nawaeb Lutheran High School) has been facing a lot of issues, especially with students’ discipline,” Esoke said.
“The school management needs the help of the district education division in that area.
“The school is also looking at expanding, but it will need advice from technical officers from the district education division.”
Attempts to get comments from the chief executive were unsuccessful.
The district administration has confirmed that bthe position had been vacant since last year.
