THE National Capital District has requested an allocation in the 2023 national budget for land acquisition in the city to build homes for public servants and private sector workers.
Governor Powes Parkop told The National yesterday did not mention any figure.
“We have also made a bid for a level five hospital at Gerehu to cost around K700 million.
“We have asked for at least K100 million to start (it) in the next three years,” he said.
“We are also bid for funding for road infrastructure.
“We want to complete all the major road infrastructure based on the Urban Development Plan that the Prime Minister James Marape launched in December 2020.
“The total major infrastructure cost for all major roads for the city would be around K800 million.
“But we would be content with any amount the Government allocates to us.”
Parkop said city hall had also submitted funding requests for three more markets and a major chilling facility for vegetables coming from other provinces.
