NCD Schools Rugby League to trial three divisions next week

THE National Capital District Schools Rugby League (NCDSRL) will host their first-ever trials next week with the trials to cover three division across the city’s three electorates.
Association president Arnold Gende told The National that the trials would be held on Thursday and Friday next week with the Moresby South Stadium to host matches for the Under-14, U16 and U18 divisions. “This year Moresby South has been nominated to host the inaugural electoral trials for NCDSRL association,” the president said.
“There will be 360 players participating to win a spot in the provincial trials come next week.
“The divisions participating are the U14, U16, U18 with teams listed into development sides per electorate.
“The U18 division will be the only division with both girls and boys participating.
“We will have teams from the Motu-Koitabu villages, Moresby-South, North-West and North-East participating,” Gende said.
Gende, while announcing the trials, acknowledged the support from parents and teachers involved in running competition for the NCDSRL.
“I’d like to thank the hardworking parents and teachers plus the staff of the Department of Education and board members of the schools participating.”
He thanked the Moresby South Stadium management and league giving up a weekend to host the trials.
He also thanked the Moresby South District Office for its support to fund the trials.
