NCD Vipers upset Tumbe with 32-16 win at NFS

THE National Capital District Vipers pulled off a 32-16 upset against the high-flying Waghi Tumbe in the main match of the Digicel Cup double-header at the National Football Stadium yesterday.
The Port Moresby-based side pulled off an impressive performance on home soil bagging six tries against the men from Jiwaka.
Vipers halfback Karis Peter and second-rower Joel Kapia both bagged tries in the opening minutes to lead their team before Tumbe responded with a try from Saki Peter.
The Vipers floodgates opened well into the match with tries going to Jaybee Dom, Morgan Gong, Manu Kame and Fedro Gene.
Tumbe, who had a poor start to the match, were able to come back fighting with a two tries from fullback Jim Frank and one from their halfback.
Kicking for Tumbe was at a low yesterday, with eight points gone begging after they missed all their conversions.
The upset by Viper was disappointing to the Waghi Tumbe who had maintain consistency in their match in this season of the Digicel Cup competition.
