THE National Capital District Commission donated four vehicles valued at K500,000 last Thursday to police in Port Moresby.

Governor Powes Parkop said policing was a shared responsibility between the police and the community.

He said stakeholders must partner with police to contain lawlessness in the nation’s capital.

“Our goal is to make our city become inclusive, safe and free where residents must be free to walk in the day and night,” Parkop said.

The donation was a commitment he made last year to the city police.

Parkop assured the police that the NCDC would  partner with them to contain lawlessness in Port Moresby.

NCD city manager Leslie Alu said the donation was to help the police with their operations.

“NCDC will continue to support the police in the city,” he said.

Andrews thanked NCDC for the vehicles and urged police officers to look after the vehicles in carrying out their duties.

“We will maintain our relationship with the city government to contain the law and order problems in the city,” Andrews said.
