The National Capital District Commission call centre to help the victims of the Hanuabada village fires is operating today, an official says.
The numbers are: 323 4258, 323 9633 and 325 1320 and the lines will be open from 7.45am to midnight daily until Thursday next week, call centre volunteer and commission staff Elenora Sariman said.
“We are expecting calls from business houses, individuals and the public,” she said.
“Whoever can come and help support, whatever they can bring,
it will all be put here and later presentations will be made to the victims.
“Our health division is already arranging portable toilets, and then our engineering and waste management will go into to clean up debris.”
Sariman said World Vision PNG and Supreme Industries have supported the call centre team by setting up their tent and desks at Tarpot in Boroko.
She appealed to city residents and business houses to assist the villagers with food, clothes, beddings, cooking utensils and stationery.
The commission’s social service manager Kila Dick said the call centre was to cater for the donation of goods and items only and monetary donations could be made to the BSP account for Hanuabada Village Fire Relief, account number 7011146458.
