THE National Capital District Commission’s plans to improve bus services in Port Moresby will consider on the views of stakeholders such as the police, says City Manager Ravu Frank.
Views will also be sought from the PMV Association, Motor Vehicles Insurance Ltd (MVIL) and City Hall.
“The process doesn’t only involve NCDC alone,” Frank said.
“It will (require) all stakeholders’ (views) on the issue,” he said.
He said improving bus services in the city had been a challenge because it was complicated.
“As the city authority, we have been trying to find a balance in the bus services to ensure that everyone does business to avoid disputes,” he said.
Frank made the remark after the death of a bus driver on Independence Day led to the suspension of bus services, affecting city residents. He said NCDC wanted to find ways to provide an effective and reliable bus service.
He added that NCDC’s Eda City Bus services was yet to reach its next phase to operate services on cashless basis.
“We are still in dialogue with the Department of Transport, Road Traffic Authority, MVIL and the Road Safety Council to implement the next phase of the Eda City Bus services,” he said.
