THE National Capital District Commission plans to have a new building to house all its departments to save costs and deliver better services for Port Moresby residents.

This was the assurance given by NCD Governor Powes Parkop during the signing of the K53 million project with  China Railway Construction Engineering PNG Ltd last Friday.

He said the building would be at no extra cost to the city residents and should be completed by May 2015.

He said the loan was provided by Westpac and Bank South Pacific.  Loan repayment will be from the K400,000 NCDC pays monthly for the rental of Lagatoi House it currently occupies.

“The city is expanding and the new building will be modern and give out a futuristic image of a modern state-of-the-art building – not actually a grand hall but modern,” Parkop said.
