The NCD Public Servants Soccer Association will cut short its season due to Apec meeting scheduled for November.
In the club executive meeting at PNG Football Stadium VIP room over the weekend, the officials unanimously agreed that they would only play one round of competition, rather than the usual two rounds.
NCDPSSA president Vonnie Kapi Natto with her executives Justus Bapao (vice-president) and Paul Isouroa told the meeting that they would have preferred to have a two-round competition but Apec had pre-hired the Sir John Guise Stadium complex to stages a series of events leading up to the Apec meeting in a little over three months’ time.
Kapi Natto said although she was disappointed, national and international events took precedence over any local competition.
Isouroa reiterated that the stadium was fully booked in the coming months leading to the November meeting which would attract international leaders.
He said their premier competition, the A-League, had two more games while the lower grades had several outstanding games which should force NCDPSSA to play some mid-week game to complete the season on time.
He also reminded the clubs to pay their dues before the finals.
The registration fees and the affiliation fees were due five weeks ago but they had relaxed the deadline hoping for the clubs to pay before the finals.
With only one round competition, NCDPSSA expects all teams to pay before they can take part in the finals.
Both Kapi Natto and Isouroa thanked all the clubs for their loyalty through soccer impasse that saw two soccer competition running parallel in the last 16 months.
They said all the clubs had been cooperative which enabled the smooth running of the competition which attracted rural talents from neighbouring Rigo inland and the Rigo coast line in Central.
