WITH the National Petroleum Company PNG (NPCP) paying a K415 million dividend to the state, other state owned enterprises (SOEs) need to be challenged to deliver some dividends to government as well, Independent Public Business Corporation (IPBC) chairman Paul Nerau said.

He said other SOEs can see that as an example that they can deliver good profits.

“Realities of comparision are not matched by the fact that oil and gas is being the money revenue earner for those companies that are involved in the oil and gas, Nerau said.

“Yes, I see that it is a good opportunity for others (SOEs) to see that you can deliver good profits.

“And I’d like to think that we can encourage all the other SOEs to deliver and make profit and pay the dividends to the government – some form of dividend,” he said during NPCP dividend announcement last Friday.

PNG Power chairman Larry Andagali, said the government expected SOEs to deliver profits.
