THE Oro Country Netball Association senior and junior division major honours are up for grabs this weekend at the Sangara Primary School Sports oval, outside Popondetta town.

Hot favourites are hosts Sangara and Munini – all eyeing grand final spots in the Under-17, B grade, A grade as cash prizes are on offer instead of silverware.

Tournament director Mabel Isa said in the A grade, the grand final will be played between Sangara and Mumuni, the B grade will be an all-Sangara affair and U17 is between Mumuni  and Sangara today.

Isa said these two associations exposed many untapped talents in the five-day event, which was the base of Higaturu netball and Sohe district.

She said most of these players would be selected for the Oro Country training squad to attend the national championship in Port Moresby later this year.

“This is an opportunity for the rural talents as many of these players will not be given chances to be in Team Oro for PNG Games as only 12 players represent the province,” Isa said.
