New hospital boss expected to start work

NEWLY-APPOINTED chief executive officer (CEO) of Boram General Hospital in Wewak, Mathew Kaluvia, is expected to start work at the end of the week.
Although the handover ceremony took place yesterday, Kaluvia had not entered his office as the office keys were still with acting CEO Dr Jimmy Kambu, who was on sick leave.
East Sepik health authority chairman Austin The told The National that Kaluvia had resumed duties and had attended to meetings as of Monday, but had not entered his office.
Dr Kambu said he would hand over the keys to the office and the vehicle to Kaluvia on Thursday week as his sick leave ended tomorrow.
Kaluvia was appointed by the authority’s board.
The said Kaluvia’s appointment was finalised by the board on Nov 15.
“After a vigorous recruitment and consultation process and in , a detailed report was submitted to the board for the short list of candidates,” he said.
