A NEW teacher’s house that was fully funded by ExxonMobil PNG Ltd was handed over yesterday to the Papa Elementary School in Central.
Papa village is one of  three villages impacted by the LNG project and has since been receiving regular assistance from the developer for community-based projects.
EMPNG managing director Andrew Barry told students and people that the global energy giant had made a sizeable contribution towards education in PNG.
He said their contribution through the education sector and other sectors were aimed at improving the lives of people.
“It is important that children get a better education. It is also critical that teachers are assisted so they too are able to provide quality teaching services.
“ExxonMobil has so many programmes it intends to deliver in PNG that may not merely be within the education sector but in other areas as well,” he told the students.
“Think big and study hard and you too can make it one day to work at the LNG plant site right on your home soil.”
Barry later cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the new building.
The recipient of the new house – elementary head teacher Puro Bisia –  hailed ExxonMobil for providing him and his family a home.
He said after using a classroom with his family as home for the past 12 months, the new house would give him the freedom and space to concentrate on delivering the best lessons for the students.
