New Ireland government received K87 million in revenue in 2018, the first provincial assembly sitting for 2019 has been told.
The meeting also saw the attendance of Kavieng MP Ian Ling-Stuckey and Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt, after notable absences in 2018.
Of the total K 87.076 million revenue, 71 per cent or K61.753 million was generated through internal revenue while 29 per cent or K25.322 million was carried over from the Government.
Development grants received in 2018 were through provincial support improvement programme (PSIP), special support grant (SSG) and leave fares which totals to K18.1 million. Provincial executive council member assisting Governor Sir Julius Chan on planning and finance, Gethrude Salir, presented the financial statement to the assembly.
He said 75 per cent or K63.793 million was spent on development expenditure, and 24 per cent or K19.966mil on operational or recurrent expenditure.
Provincial administrator’s advance expenditure constituted one per cent or K0.958 million of total expenditure.
“In the operational expenditure of K19.669 million, 93 per cent or K18.595 million expended was from internal revenue,” Salir said.
“K1.37 million was carried over from former year’s functional grants.”
