NEW Ireland Rugby Football League (NIRFL) announced the appointment of its new executive management team on Thursday with the province on track in delivering programmes in the sport.
Chief executive Jeremiah Paissat, chief operations officer Ben McCally Lenturut Jr and game development manager Gabriel Sigi form the new team. NIRFL president Benjamin Wakip said the announcement was a step forward with New Ireland being the first province to pilot the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League’s governance and administrative framework (New Ireland Model).
“We are building momentum and are looking forward to making some big announcements in the coming weeks,” he said in a statement.
“These are exciting times for NIRFL and rugby league in general.
“With the formation of our executive management team, NIRFL can begin to move in a more fluid manner to execute the board’s direction and strategy.
“Lenturut brings a wealth of knowledge in rugby league development, having been involved as a key driver of New Ireland’s schools programmes.
“Incoming chief executive Paissat has been involved in driving New Ireland’s bid for a Digicel Cup team.
“This is a provincial effort, all New Irelanders from all walks of life in the country and overseas.
“New Ireland must stand together in promoting the game and its influence for a stronger province.
“We join the Government, churches and our communities to see New Ireland rise.”
