A Marvel actor has reportedly been “officially offered” the role of James Bond.
British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been formally offered the chance to take over from current Bond star Daniel Craig, according to The Sun.
Eon Productions, which makes the spy thriller films, is on course to start shooting this year.
A source told The Sun: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.
“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
It’s been a long process getting to this point after the move was forced to undergo multiple delays due to last year’s writer’s strikes.
However, it’s been reported that work is finally underway on a script, with production scheduled to take place at Pinewood Studios in the UK.
Taylor-Johnson was in the running for the iconic role alongside numerous other actors including Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba and Henry Cavill.
As recently as last week, Taylor-Johnson said he was grateful to be in the mix, saying: “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”
Last year, a report in The Sun revealed that the actor was in the running for the job after secretly screen testing for franchise boss Barbara Broccoli at Pinewood Studios.
He started his acting career in 2000s The Apocalypse, opposite Richard Harris, and appeared in 2008 teen movie Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging and 2022’s Bullet Train with Brad Pitt.
Insiders said Aaron’s performance as a psychopath in 2016 thriller Nocturnal Animals, which saw him win a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, opened the door to the Bond role.
A source said: “Aaron may not be the best known in his field but he is an incredibly talented actor. His role in Nocturnal Animals showed his depth as an actor. He is the perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel left off.”
Craig quit the iconic role at the end of 2021’s acclaimed sequel, No Time To Die.
It ended with a shocking finale in which Bond is apparently killed off. With the handsome spy seemingly dead, it is unclear where the next movie will fit in the timeline.

Gillan offers disappointing update on new Jumanji movie
Karen Gillan

Karen Gillan, pictured, has shared a disappointing update regarding a new Jumanji film, revealing she is none the wiser when it will be made.
The star played Ruby Roundhouse in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, both of which followed 1995’s Jumanji and 2005’s Zathura: A Space Adventure.
With the most recent two instalments performing well at the box office, rumours of a fifth film in the franchise have been rife, but Gillan revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that there is currently no update in production.
“I don’t know,” she began. “I’m sure it’s tricky to wrangle everyone’s schedules, but I haven’t heard anything about it other than the fact that we will be doing it at some point. So we’re all so enthusiastic about it. We all love working on those films, and it’s just a matter of when.”
Gillan had previously provided an update on the project in 2022, in which she said: “Yes I believe there will be another film, I don’t know when! It’s hard to get everyone’s schedules aligned! But we are all very excited to make another one.”
The star has also starred in both the Doctor Who and Marvel franchises, and revealed recently that she was surprised by the twist involving Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which saw the leader quit the Guardians.
“I don’t remember seeing that in the script,” she recalled. “So either I have a bad memory or it wasn’t in there. So it was pretty surprising, but it was cool as well. I was like, ‘Okay, what’s the plan here?’”
Whilst fans might have to wait a while to see Gillan as Ruby or Nebula, the star will appear alongside Russell Crowe in Sleeping Dogs, a mystery which follows a detective who attempts to solve a cold case whilst undergoing treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. – Yahoo News
