New petition on LNG project

 A GROUP of landowners in Hides has petitioned the state and PNG LNG project developer ExxonMobil to honour their agreements.

The petition is separate from the recent 31-day notice given to the state and Exxon by Hela Governor Anderson Agiru regarding the similar issues.

The landowners’ petition was given last month to the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Richard Maru and a copy was handed to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill on Wednesday.

The landowners of the Hides PDL 7 through the Hides 4 umbrella association are led by chairman Chris Payabe.

They want the government to respond to their petitions by next Monday or they would be forced to close down the facilities on their land.
