THREE police officers allegedly went on a drinking spree last weekend and damaged a new police vehicle donated by the Australian federal police in Daru, Western, a senior police officer says.
Border commander and acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Peter Philip said the officers had taken the vehicle without the approval of their supervisor last Friday and continued drinking until the next day.
He said the drunk officers then went to town discharging their firearms and terrorising the public.
“They continued drinking throughout the night and till the next day,” he said.
“Then last Sunday night, at about 8pm, they crashed the car.”
“The officers sustained injuries from the accident and were admitted to the Daru General Hospital while leaving full beer bottles in the crashed vehicle.
“They were treated and released.”
Philip said command had broken in Daru as junior officers were not obeying instructions from supervisors, the station commander or even the provincial police commander.
He said this was the latest incident received over the past two months of ill-discipline by junior police officers in Daru.
“On March 2, at about 9pm six policemen allegedly kidnapped and raped a 27-year-old woman at Samari settlement,” he said.
“Last month, a junior officer damaged the Daru Police Station after his shift superior ordered him not to drive the police vehicle.
“The officer was drunk and drove the vehicle without his supervisor’s approval.
“When he brought the vehicle back to the station, the shift supervisor ordered him to leave the vehicle and not to drive it again.
“The policeman became angry and hit the counter and broke a window and damaged the police station.”
Philip said acting South Fly police commander Snr Insp Ewai Segi had told him that the six police officers accused of kidnaping and rape together with the officer involved in damaging the station were under investigated both criminally and administratively by the Daru Police Station commander and the Internal Investigation Unit (IIU).
“So far, I have received no official reports and updates of those investigations,” he said.

  • What is so hard about terminating the whole lot of unruly, ill-disciplined, abusive, violent rapists, drunkards and criminals in police uniform? Some one tell the citizens why it is so difficult to terminate the whole bunch of lunatics??
The more the RPNGC tolerate these bunch of lunatics the police force and other disciplined forces, these criminals will be empowered to run havoc and continue to bring down the good name of other good officers in the disciplined forces. Citizens will be more afraid of the police than the criminals.
I call on the Police Commissioner to come down hard on these rogue police officers. Terminate their employment from police force and let them face the full force of the law for their criminal actions. If this is not done, we are heading for disaster!!!

  • Sack the ill disciplined rogue policemen.
Waste of government funds keeping such policemen!!!

  • enforce the authority vested on you to put them off from the force all together and let the investigation continue from there

  • This clearly sign of weaken in the Police Hierarchy in Daru. ACP Papuan Region must immediately conduct investigation into all these misconduct by their junior officers and ta disciplinary action.
First action 8a to replace the senior policemen in charge of Daru with someone that will command respect among all officers.

  • They just chose their destiny and that is not to be in the RPNGC force. Just terminate them and forfeit their entitlements and see where they go from there

  • Terminate those people from the force because there won’t do any good this country .

  • My point of view.
    1. Theres no command from the top executives.
    2..Promptly investigate PPC and supervisors
    3. Or disciplined and terminate all officers involved.

  • Sack them and let them roam the streets this is unfair to damage assets donated by donors/aid.
We paying tucked large amount of tax to this corrupt forces culprits.
