New security feature to prevent duplication of titles

INVESTING in a new-title security feature which cannot be duplicated is one of the numerous initiatives undertaken by the Lands and Physical Planning Department’s reform agendas.
Lands and Physical Planning Minister John Rosso yesterday said the Land Reform Agenda constituted three components.
One was the reforms into land administration within the department and consisted of a myriad of reform initiatives. Other two were reforms into Customary Land tenure and pilot project for commercialising customary land.
Addressing the business community in Port Moresby yesterday, Rosso said: “I am convinced that these reforms are right for PNG.
“I invite the business community and the development community to partner with me and my department and the Government to implement the Land reform initiatives which are critical for nation building.”
Rosso further clarified that the Physical Planning Board in Port Moresby did not come under Lands Department.
“The Physical Planning Board in Port Moresby is run by NCDC. We (Lands Department) get a lot of blame on the zonings in Port Moresby,” he said.
The Lands minister also made a commitment to take back (titles) of all recreational parks and playing ovals in Lae and Port Moresby for people to use.
For Lae, these included East Taraka, Papuan Compound and James Khay Oval.
“I made a commitment to take back all parks for our children. Couple of parks in Port Moresby have been sorted out, one of which is the Kone Tigers Oval, another is the small park going up to 2-Mile Hill, I’m in the process of getting it back.”
