New teams start well

Newcomers in the National Capital District Football Association got off to a positive start against their opponents in the A-League at the PNG Football Stadium on Saturday.
The main game between Kempa and Pom Souths was a thriller.
Former Hekari defender Karo Iga, who played striker for the village-based team, scored four goals to deliver Kempa’s first win.
Souths pulled one back but it was all they could manage as Kempa held out their opponents for the majority of the game to win 4-1.
The highlight of the weekend was the clash between Amoana and FC Wantoks.
Amoana, led by Iamo Karo, Iamo Maneka, Veari Kea, Karo Lila, Kekei Tom and goalkeeper Sale Jubilee, gave FC Wantoks a strong challenge in the early exchanges and were rewarded with a goal to take the lead.
But Wantoks used their experience to equalise through skipper David Muta in the dying minutes.
Newly promoted team Kalibobo fought bravely but went down to a well-drilled Valley Strikers 2-0.
Results: Kempa 4 Pom Souths 1, FC Wantoks 1 Amoana 1, Valley Strikers 2 Kalibobo 0, Tarangau 2 Murat 0, SOG 6 ITI Musa 0.
