NEWCOMERS Madang came from behind to hold Admiralty 1-1 in the Telikom National Soccer League at the Laiwaden Oval on Saturday.

Admiralty, under former coach Kisakiu Posman, started the match on a high note as his midfielders and flankers combined to create holes in the opposition’s territory for up-and coming midfielder/striker Rodney Mobiha to net the first goal in the 4th minute.

Star Madang signing Felix Komolong ably backed by Berry Chimi and Don Agongi in defence, while midfielders Max Sengum and Darren Steven created opportunities for their strikers in Hitolo Karo, Eliuda Pohei and Vanya Malagian

The Port Moresby-based Manus franchise captain Michael Foster was at the helm to lead the Admiralty players into the Fox territory but Mobiha Kapret, Kapret Tingut, Armstrong Peka, Mark Gobono and Pettysen Elijash could not score.

With the home crowd behind them, Madang rallied in the 33rd minute when Alwin Komolong levelled the score 12 minutes before half time break.

The second half of the match was anybody’s game. Both teams contested evenly in all departments but they could not find the net.

Posman admitted after the match the game could have gone either way.
