NEWCREST Mining and Harmony Gold, in recognising the increasing impact of the Covid-19 on provincial health authorities and their ability to keep their frontline health workers safe, have provided the Morobe health authority (MPHA) with essential personal protective equipment (PPEs).
The delivery included items such as face shields, masks, gloves and coveralls.
Authority chairman David Wissink thanked Newcrest and Harmony for their continued support to the province.
“It’s during these trying times, we need to work together with key stakeholders to address the pandemic and existing health issues in the province,” Wissink said.
“These critical supplies will help to keep our health workers and our people safe.”
Harmony’s Bernard Kavanamur reinforced the miners’ commitment to assisting PNG in its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Harmony and Newcrest are pleased to provide assistance to Morobe, where the PPEs and medical equipment are much needed by the frontline workers to support the fight against the Covid-19.”
