THE revenue generated in the gaming industry can increase from K30 million to K20 billon, according to the National Gaming and Control Board. Board chief executive officer Imelda Agon, during the swearing-in ceremony of the new board, said that the gaming industry’s plans included wealth creation through tourism. “This is really good for the country and a lot of things have changed for the NGCB,” Agon said. Chairman Clemence Kanau said the new board was represented by qualified and experienced people from the public and public sectors, and churches. “We accommodate every view,” Kanau said. The board will be looking at creating opportunities through its various programmes. “We will contribute immensely not only by what we do in the industry but as a conduit to that, we can turn the tide in many aspects of our economy.” Kanau said a policy on job creation would be introduced where through NCBG’s help schemes, the receiver must show that at least jobs must be created as a result of the funding. “In that manners, we address the issue of unemployment.” Kanau said the new board had taken on a backlog of activities and had no time to waste.
