SP Hunters centre Brandon Nima is taking training seriously as he aims to retain his spot in coach Matthew Church’s final 2022 squad despite a host of exciting new talents.
Nima, who joined the Hunters for the 2019 Hostplus Cup season after his Lahanis beat Enga Mioks in the 2018 decider, is preparing for his fourth campaign with the South Pacific Brewery-sponsored Hunters.
In his debut year with the Hunters, the Eastern Highlander was named as club’s top try scorer and he claimed the chairman’s award from the PNG Rugby Football League’s Sandis Tsaka.
“We have a number young players in the train-on squad, so selections for the final squad will be tough,” he told The National.
“But I believe I’ll make the cut.
“I am ready to play in every game and be consistent all season.”
Meanwhile, Nima — who made his Hunters debut against Tweed Heads Seagulls — said he wanted to see change in his Kafuka community with youths refraining from drugs, alcohol and violence.
He said they should prioritise God, family and education in order to become good leaders in the community.
He said the community would be safer for them to live in if the youths changed their ways.
