Nine new cases brings total to 970

NINE new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections were reported in Papua New Guinea (PNG) on Thursday, taking the total cases to date to 970.
The latest cases were reported in East New Britain, Madang and in the National Capital District (NCD).
In East New Britain, a 26-year-old and a 40-year-old female both residing in Vunabuk were confirmed positive.
Both did not show symptoms of the Covid-19 at the time of testing but swab samples returned positive.
In Madang, five cases were reported – five female and a male, aged between 31 and 59, were tested positive.
All five cases showed symptoms of Covid-19 at the time of testing.
Two cases were reported in the NCD.
A 40-year-old and a 61-year-old female from Moresby North West tested positive.
Both showed symptoms of Covid-19 at the time of testing.
The country’s Covid-19 cases to date are 970 infections with 10 deaths.
The total global Covid-19 cases are 111 million with 62.7 million recovered and 2.46 million deaths.
