Nine new coronavirus cases reported in city

FOUR women and five men aged between 18 and 60 are the latest reported Covid-19 in the National Capital District – taking the total to 525 including seven who died.
National Pandemic Response Controller David Manning said: “We are identifying cases in different parts of the city, further reinforcing (the fact) that we have a community transmission.”
Manning urged city residents to strictly follow public health safety measures such as wearing masks, and to come for testing.
Three of the nine cases reported on Sunday had contacts with an earlier positive case.
The new cases were detected at the swab collection sites at the Taurama Aquatic Centre (four), Rita Flynn (three), Port Moresby General Hospital (one) and a Community Testing Centre (one).
“Testing for the Covid-19 enables us to identify cases quickly, provide them with appropriate care, and quarantine their contacts,” he said.
“I urge (everyone) to get tested if you have been in contact with someone with the Covid-19.
“Knowing your status can prevent you from spreading the virus.”

  • Just look after the vulnerable members of the community. This includes people with significant medical conditions such as asthma or bad lung conditions, bad heart disease, chronic kidney disease or cancer.
Most of the reported cases have recovered spontaneously. Mortality rate at about 3 per cent but disproportionally kills vulnerable people.
We have not been able to control HIV/AIDS and TB. This virus will not be as bad as TB and HIV/AIDS or malaria.
    Stop the waste on testing.

  • It’s a hoax brought on by the world’s media and big Pharma. We don’t have the money and time to waste on this disease. We have more people dying from curable diseases and our health system is deteriorating.
Forget Covid19, treat it like the flu and let’s get on with nation building!!
