NIP man faces rape charge in court

A MAN has appeared in court in Kavieng for raping his sister-in-law.
Police said he appeared at the Kavieng Committal Court on Monday and his case was adjourned to Feb 20.
Kavieng police station commander Chief Sgt Patrick Dau said the man allegedly got the girl intoxicated with alcohol and later raped her at the family home.
He said the man from Kulangit village threatened his wife and chased her from their home before allegedly taking advantage of his 15-year-old sister-in-law.
The girl is a grade eight student from Tuki­lisava village and was spending her holidays with her elder sister.
The offence was allegedly committed on Jan 31 and the man had been on the run until police caught him last Saturday.
