NIU Ford launched the new 2019 Ranger Everest series performance vehicles in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Branch manager Ross Nicholas told The National that it was a demonstration of the company’s commitment to the country in the automotive industry demonstrating its future plans.
He said they had plans of site development on the existing facilities over the next three years, they had recently opened a K12 million building and the dealership in Kokopo last month, they had renovated their dealership in Lae and Mt Hagen and Niu Ford would be the next one.
Nicholas said they had tested the Raptor on the (PNG) environment in May by taking a road trip to Gabbagabba outside Central and explored the region.
“Basically, we wanted to test the Raptor and see how good it is inr PNG’s environment and terrain,” he said.
“But we are also using the opportunity to market Papua New Guinea across the Asia-Pacific.
“We are also using social media to market and promote the business as well as Papua New Guinea.”
Nicholas said the first Raptor had arrived in Port Moresby in February and were slowly coming into the country.
“The Ranger Raptor is such a popular vehicle that it’s basically on restricted allocation worldwide,” he said.
“Our allocation of Raptors have been delayed for over 12 months due to supply issues and we’ve finally got them and it’s a vehicle that is worthwhile for promotion because it is a pretty special vehicle.”
He said they ordered the vehicles up to four months in advance.
Nicholas said the Raptor had created more interest in the automotive industry in the country then any vehicle released over the last 10 years.
