NiuPower to build library

A POWER company will build a new library for a primary school outside Port Moresby, a local official says.
Kido ward 17 councillor Kaia Aup said a new library was built at Kido Primary School in Central by the Kido ward development programme, but it will now be converted to a science lab after NiuPower promised to build a new library for the school.
She said the initial library cost K45,000 and was funded and built as a community initiated project.
“Kido Primary School is in a bad state but with the help of NiuPower building a new library, this gives hope to the future of our children,” she said.
NiuPower external affairs manager Wellington Bellawa said the company would build three libraries under its partnership with the people of Kido, Papa and Lealea.
“Under Niupower’s education programme and its partnership with the locals, three new libraries will be built for the primary schools in Papa, Lealea and Kido this year,” he said.
Kido Primary School head teacher Douglas Benoni said the school would benefit from a library.
