THE Goroka district court has imposed a no-bail condition on 29 people, including two women, facing willful murder charges.

They have been accused of killing a man at Kama village, outside Goroka town.

The 29 appeared in court briefly but the case was adjourned because police files were not ready

Police said the group had heard that one of their tribesmen from Upper Bena, in Eastern Highlands, had been killed.

They then travelled to Goroka town in two trucks to find out who killed him.

They went into the Suave betel nut market, where their tribesmen sell food, and chased the vendors.

Police said the group then proceeded to Kama village and allegedly attacked a 50-year-old man from Kamex village and others.

The man, who they had accused of practising sorcery, later died.

The court refused bail because of the seriousness of the crime.

The suspects have been remanded at Bihute Jail, outside Goroka, and will appear for mention on Nov 19.
