No change to deputy PM
By REBECCA KUKU
PRIME Minister James Marape has denied talks and rumours that he is appointing a new deputy prime minister to replace Davis Steven.
In a WhatsApp response to The National yesterday evening, Marape said: “False.
Marape was asked: “There are talks that there is a new DPM. That a member of the NA (National Alliance Party) is now the new DPM and has replaced Davies Steven?”
The talks and rumours follow a viral posting being circulated in social media Facebook (PNG Current News) that read: “Patrick Pruaitch Deputy Prime Minister Davis Steven OUT!”
The National also learnt that Marape had a meeting with key political leaders in his office on Friday following news reports that the Supreme Court had allowed Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch to proceed with a court reference questioning the election of Marape as PM in Parliament on May 31.
The NA had also called for a press conference in the PM’s office in Parliament to announce its move to the Government but cancelled it after three hours.
Meanwhile, Steven, who is also Justice Minister and Attorney-General, failed to turn up for two official functions on Friday and yesterday.
The functions are related to the ongoing 2019 Commonwealth Magistrates’ and Judges’ Association (CMJA) Conference in Port Moresby.
Pruaitch is the party leader for the National Alliance.

Marape denied social media reports about appointment of Ian Ling Stuckey as the new treasurer. The next day, Ling Stuckey was appointed treasurer. So who is going to believe Marape this time round?
Stop playing this nonesense game and starting doing something for the nation.
If in due time, PMJM appoints PP as a new DPM, PNG will labelled him as a liar
So the PM is going to fall for postings circulated on social medial and appoint any Tom, Dick and Harry? The PM can’t let anybody influence his conscience in appointing any credible MP for these leadership positions.
Anywhere PM is still going to reshuffle his cabinet to accommodate NA party Leader.
I don’t believe this government will
take back Png. Budgets are cut and people will suffer for basic goods and services. Definitely we will reverse back and next PMJM’s move is to cut free education. Expect worse.
I don’t think our PM Marape will do things inappropriately,in his own wisdom,he has the mandate to do what he thinks is right.let us not be judgmental.Everyone has weaknesses and failures.Thats his time of leadership let him lead, please let’s not focus on political interest and support him.
Lets have faith that Marape will bring greater changes in our nation.
Many were called to be leaders but only few became leaders.
Please lets help one and other to build our nation strong.
