No easy task for Marum

Letters

COACH Michael Marum wants to pick the best Kumuls team to represent Papua New Guinea in their World Cup campaign.
The man is delivering with the Hunters and is showing signs of what it takes to be an elite coach in the future.
Moulding the Kumuls is a different ball game all together and at an elevated level compared to his current role and therefore Marum has reasons to say what he is saying despite him being surrounded by loyal and patriotic local talent who hope to represent their country as well.
In the meantime, the Kumuls lurk somewhere at the bottom of the ladder in world ratings despite rugby league having existed in Papua New Guinea for more than half a century. Marum’s job now is to improve on our world ranking and as such he will need the right players and the correct team composition on the field at any one time to produce the desired results to give us the long awaited wins to be competitive.
It is not only a difficult task for the Kumuls coach to select the right players and to deploy the right strategies in his coaching and mentoring methods but expectations are already looming for him to win games and he knows that all too well himself.
Hat off for Marum.
