No govt is bigger than people

PRESSURE is built through suppression and release is only achieved through expression. If pressure builds than it must always be released or else it explodes destroying all within and without. Gagging of the opposition, the stopping of the public forums by non-government organisations and even the introduction of the NICTA Act passed recently are some activities by the present government which are detrimental to our basic human rights of speech and expression. We, the general public, must not let the issues go unchallenged. Maybe the rampage by Morobe youths in Lae is a sign of pressure building up because the present government dominated by Highlanders in the key positions bypassed the leaders of Morobe thus suppressing their views and input to a lot of decision making in the province, including the new Lae City Authority. Maybe the O’Neill Government thinks it is bigger than the people it governs.
