No plan to relocate school: Goi

JIMI Secondary School in Jiwaka will remain at Kol because there are no plans to relocate it to Banz in North Waghi, Jimi MP Wake Goi says.
Goi, who is the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion, said this in response to concerns that the only secondary in his electorate would be relocated to Banz.
He said as there was currently no road link to the school and he had paid for the airfares for both students and staff as well as airlifting food rations to the school.
Goi said the road from Banz to Kol was completed after it was cut-off at Wara Manz Bridge. He said within the next few days, people would start using the road instead of walking to Banz and Mt Hagen.
Goi said plans were underway to recruit a new principal and teachers for Jimi Secondary.
Some of them would be expatriates.
Goi said an expatriate nurse working at a health facility in the district would also serve the school.
“As long as I remain the MP for Jimi, this school will not be relocated to anywhere because I’m looking at the long-term benefits,” he said.
Goi said he wanted Jimi Secondary to be the best school in Jiwaka.
“We need to ensure that this school will benefit our children and everyone should play their part,” he said.
