NONGA General Hospital in East New Britain has scaled down operations because of the continuous power disruptions.
The hospital issued a community announcement that operations scaled down last week would continue.
Acting chief executive officer Dr John Maku said the hospital would only attend to emergency cases until they were satisfied that there would not be any more power and water disruptions caused by the bad weather.
Power supply outages have been experienced in many parts of the country as a result of the weather.
The continuous power disruptions affected vital wards at the hospital, especially the operating theatre. Water disruptions affected the maternity wards.
PNG Power staff are repairing power poles damaged by falling trees and branches torn off by strong winds and heavy rain.
Maku said patients from the surrounding areas of Nonga and Tavui could still access outpatient services at the hospital.
The hospital will tell the people when the situation improves and its operations return to normal.
