Northern admin suspended

Sidelined Northern provincial administrator Sem Vegogo has been suspended by the provincial executive council on 18 counts of misconduct and maladministration in office.
According to a statement released by the provincial government, Vegogo was sidelined since November 6, 2017.
That was when he was arrested and charged by members of the Popondetta-based provincial fraud unit on charges of official corruption and misappropriation.
As a result of his arrest, Vegogo was sidelined and asked to take paid leave of absence by Department of Personal Management while going through court.
Northern Governor Juffa said Vegogo was given a seven-day opportunity to respond to the allegations.
However, he did not respond, thus a report to the Minister for Public Service Elias Kapavore and subsequent suspension.
Juffa said Kapavore was explicit in the media about non-performance of provincial administrators.
The charges against Vegogo were for authorising K168, 785 of non-discretionary funds from provincial support grants without the resolution of the joint provincial planning and budget priority committee to pay for hire car bills.
The hire car bills were alleged to have been incurred and framed without the knowledge of service users, who testified against Vegogo and denied knowledge of authorising funds. The criminal case against Vegogo was subsequently struck out at Popondetta committal court on Feb 8.
Collation of evidence and criminal investigations are on-going.
Once investigations have been completed, a full report will be presented to police for further charges to be laid against the suspended administrator.
