Northern leg of schools c’ships kicks off in Lae

The Northern leg of the Coca–Cola National Schools Rugby League Regional Championships kicks off in Lae today with 11 teams from Lae, Ramu, Kainantu and Wewak confirmed to take part.
Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League chief executive Reatau Rau said teams from the Morobe capital were Lae City, Lae Country, Lae Primary City, Lae Secondary City and Lae Secondary Country, and will play in all divisions in the Under-14 boys, U16 boys, U18 boys and U18 open girls divisions. He said Kainantu had two teams — Kainantu East and Kainantu West — taking part in the U16 boys, U18 boys and U18 open girls.
“Ramu has teams in all divisions, while Wewak will be fielding only one team in the U18 boys,” Rau said.
The U14 boys and U16 boys will play three rounds of matches today, and the U18 boys and open girls teams play two rounds of matches tomorrow.
