THE Anitua Group, a local company owned by people from Lihir Island in New Ireland, opened its new office in Port Moresby yesterday.

Country retail general manager John Svenson said Anitua Ltd has operated in the country for more than 20 years distributing hardware goods in New Ireland and Lae, Morobe.

“When extending our branch to Port Moresby, we decided to work in partnership with Luxury Paints because they produce and provide superior paint products that last and that goes along with some of our products,” he said.

To celebrate the opening, the company invited Australian and Queensland rugby league star, Cowboys centre Brent Tate, to Port Moresby to help promote the business and Luxury Paints.

He said he was excited to be part of the occasion especially since Luxury Paints was a Queensland-based company.

Svenson said apart from Luxury Paints, Anitua had more than 3000 employees both nationals and expatriates at their Lihir, Lae and Port Moresby branches.

“Our company offers a total hardware package for all Papua New Guineans,” he said.

“We are  focussed entirely on the national perspectives and we depend on the national managers to do the jobs for us.”
