NATIONAL Souths Basketball League (NSBL) will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, on Saturday, according to founding president Silas Nicky.
He said the AGM would be chaired by pioneer patron and former Mendi MP Ps Isaac Joseph.
Nicky said there were many issues that needed to be addressed prior to this year’s tournament in Goroka.
He said there had been a misunderstanding between the executives over the annual tournament and other administrative matters.
Nicky said this would damage the organisation and they had to allow the tournament to proceed as mentioned by the current patron, Johnny Yawari.
“The AGM is important and everyone should attend it prior to the tournament,” he said.
Nicky said many teams had been training and last-minute changes would not do them any good.
“We will iron out the issues and come together to run the tournament and promote basketball,” he said.
Nicky said he would be present the 2019 acquittals during the AGM and raise some important points for the future of NSBL.
“Through the game, we will look to help get young people off the streets and live disciplined lives,” he said.
“Basketball attracts many young people and NSBL is keen on making its vision come to fruition.”
Meanwhile, Nicky said they would look at staging other tournaments.
For queries or details on the AGM, he urged teams to call him on 72 784 445.
