The Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) will be sending its Covid-19 protocol document to franchises in the coming days following a review of the document by organisers of the competition.
The NSL assistant competition manager Micah Kaneng told The National last week that the review was ensure that clubs understood and followed the measures taken to resume the country’s premier football competition.
“We are reviewing the document to send to the clubs so that they comply with the state of emergency (SOE) orders and we can have a safe NSL competition,” he said.
“We are now going through the document and we will advise clubs on the protocols from the SOE which regulations are passed through the joint security task force, Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation (PNGSF) and the PNG Football Association which will later be relayed to all the NSL clubs.
“The clubs will get a copy of the document once the NSL secretariat approves it.
“Teams have to comply with the measures we have put in place so we are all in line with the directives from the Government and PNGSF.
“For us to play safe, it is our focus now that we want to make sure all our clubs know what is Covid-19 and how to deal with it because it’s something that’s here to stay.
“All we can do now is to look for solutions on how we can live with it.”
He said the NSL would be carrying out awareness and medical training with club managers and executives.
“We’re in talks with officials from St John Ambulance.
“We are planning on having them run a Covid-19 training with us (NSL staff) and our franchises on how to exercise prevention.”
