NSL to decide on status of Gunemba, Dabinyaba

THE Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) says it will make a decision on the status of Papua New Guinea internationals Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba.
The forwards joined Port Moresby-based Hekari United last month after walking out on defending champions Lae City following the sacking of former coach Peter Gunemba.
But City claimed that proper processes had not been followed despite franchise owner Ian Chow telling the players via email that “you are all released and free do whatever you choose”.
NSL acting manager Dimirit Mileng told The National that a decision on their status would be made soon.
“We have evidence provided by the aggrieved parties (players),” he said.
“It demonstrates that there is enough evidence to make a decision soon. The approach we have taken to speak to City through official correspondence, we waited for a formal reply.
“The situation confronting the two players has never happened in the past.
“So if the guidelines on which this issue can be solved are not present, there is an opportunity to find a solution. But it is important that all sides are treated fairly. The guidelines are there to assist and transfers should follow them, if there are no underlying issues.
“It would help to trace back to what had transpired earlier which had created a situation not so common.
“A general rule in football is ‘without a player, there is no game’.
“But if a player has caused discomfort in the club by not fulfilling his obligations then he can be punished.”
